Dennis Martire has dedicated more than three decades of his professional life to the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), shaping its direction and advocating for laborers’ rights across the mid-Atlantic region. His journey began in April 1990, just a few years after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in government from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Starting as an international representative for LIUNA’s Jurisdictional Disputes Department, Martire quickly demonstrated his leadership potential and commitment to the union’s mission.

By 2000, Martire had been promoted to Assistant Regional Manager for the mid-Atlantic region, and just two years later, he assumed the elected role of Vice President and Regional Manager for the same area. In this capacity, he has overseen countless initiatives aimed at improving the lives of workers in his jurisdiction. Among his most notable accomplishments is his role in the Route 495 Hot Lanes Project in Virginia, where he led efforts to educate construction workers about union benefits. This culminated in one of the largest union victories in the state’s construction industry as workers successfully unionized under LIUNA Local 11.

Martire’s leadership extends beyond individual projects. He has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at promoting fair wages and safe working conditions.
